What is a non-diet approach?

As a caregiver, you may be concerned about your child’s growth process; working with a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) can be helpful to learn and understand how to nourish a growing child, adolescent or young adult. We know from the literature, that self-directed diets do not work, and can lead to an increase in disordered eating patterns. 1 A non-diet approach is weight neutral and focuses on a positive and balanced relationship with food, eating, physical activity and body image. At Sprout Pediatric Nutrition, we provide patient and family-centered care focused on healthy habits and ultimately helping children and families form a healthy relationship with food and eating.
